All Projects Summary

TerraMar Research supports various projects that reflect the myriad ways we can learn about and protect the planet for all generations and for all species. Research, Education, and Advocacy is the centerpoint of all we do. Volunteerism is another component of these projects, reflecting the dedication, passion, and commitment to other species that shines through people’s busy schedules and crowded lives.

POD (Protect Our Dolphin Neighbors) works to protect our dolphin neighbors in the Santa Barbara region and beyond through pioneering research, education and community and government projects. Seal Sitters was formed when volunteers met each other “seal-sitting” urban seal pups on crowded beaches so that the pups could rest safely while their moms foraged for them. The Whale Stewardship Project (WSP) has been the only effort to conduct research, stewardship, and provide public education about young lone and very young beluga whales without moms who are increasingly observed interacting sociably with people.

Casa de la Imaginacion is a little gem in remote and rural Yelapa, Mexico, where children learn and share invaluable lessons about the environment, animals, and each other. Save the Elephants and Elephant Watch in Africa are pioneers in research and ecotourism. It is through these projects and others that we at TerraMar have been privileged to participate in, contribute to, or otherwise have tried to support in what ways we can.

Past Projects

Terramar Research has provided support for various and much-needed projects during their inception. Often, these endeavors have succesfully developed into their own nonprofit charities which we may continue to support directly or indirectly (such as Seal Sitters Marine Mammal Stranding Network in Seattle, Washington).

The imagination of nature is far, far greater than the imagination of man.
